Back up and running again

Ok, Vista set me back about a week. I had to rebuild my computer and even after I got it rebuilt (virtually - with software), I couldn’t restore my files from the backup. Thankfully, I had done a manual backup or I would have been screwed. I know have computer backing up to itself and an external drive using the new Synctoy v.2.0.  and not the built-in backup crap. Since it didn’t work. But I still don’t know if I need the built-in crappy software for the “previous version” feature to work. I don’t think so, but it’s not really clear. So if someone reads this and knows for sure, send me a link where it says this.  Or maybe you don’t have a clue about what I am talking about.

I considered going back to XP but I do like Vista even though I probably should be running XP on my older machine. I did have Vista on my Macbook Pro but it didn’t run all that well so I went back to XP. I have it on a Macbook and Vista runs well in Bootcamp but not in Parallels.
