Bon Jovi in Fargo, North Dakota

April 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I felt like I was 13 years old again, listening to a rock idol from the late 80s/early 90s perform hit after hit that I remembered from my childhood. I am talking about when I saw Bon Jovi perform at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota on Saturday, April 19th.

It was a great concert and it was hyped up by the media in Fargo, North Dakota. The hype was made known all around the state. Some lady in Fargo made a Youtube video that was for a concert promoted by Bon Jovi’s promoters and part of that was featured during the concert.

The set list included:

LOST HIGHWAY
BORN TO BE MY BABY
BAD NAME
RAISE YOUR HANDS
RUNAWAY
OLDER
SLEEP w/ Gimme Some Lovin’ & Start Me Up
BLOOD MONEY
BLAZE OF GLORY w/ Daughtry
WHOLE LOT OF LEAVIN’
TILL WE AIN’T STRANGERS
SATURDAY NIGHT
WE GOT IT GOIN’ ON
IT’S MY LIFE
BAD MEDICINE w/ Shout
I’LL BE THERE FOR YOU – RICHIE VOX
(YOU WANT TO) MAKE A MEMORY
BED OF ROSES
WHO SAYS YOU CAN’T GO HOME
HAVE A NICE DAY
FAITH
PRAYER

ENCORE:
I LOVE THIS TOWN
WANTED

I could write more about this but I can’t think of much more..

Oh yeah, Chris Daughtry was the guest performer, I could care less. I barely knew one of his songs. For as far as I know, he’s an American Idol reject. I am sure he is talented, but I just didn’t care.

South Park’s “No Internet” episode was hilarious

April 17, 2008 · 3 Comments

I just watched South Park, and saw another great episode. The basis of this episode was almost too close to reality. I can’t imagine how long I could go without Internet. I have it at work and at home. Sometimes it doesn’t work at home, and at work, if the Internet goes down, we all stand around acting like we can’t do any work… Well not exactly but that’s what it feels like.

In what I assume is a recent episode of South Park, people pack up and head west looking for other places with Internet, and find a camp where they have it. ***Spoiler alert***

It ends with a simple solution. The Internet was just a big modem that had to be reset. Something I have to do at home a lot.

How I met your Mother “jumped the shark” with Britney Spears

April 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

One of my favorite tv sitcoms on CBS may have “jumped the shark” with a recent episode featuring Britney Spears. Sadly it was the most watched episode of this season, and probably of the show’s history. Neal Patrick Harris or otherwise known as Doogie Howser, M.D.  had this to say (what Doogie said).  I agree, but I think Doogie was forced to say that or be kicked off the show. Of course, relating back to my jumping the shark comment, he is the Fonzie of the show, without him the show would suck.

Maybe they didn’t jump the shark for sure, (meaning they have not hit their peak) but they were pushing it to the edge with bringing Britney Spears on the show. The episode was funny but the secretary could have been played by anyone or anyone other Britney.

The show is actually unique since when they finally do explain how he did finally meet his kids mother the show is over. The question is how long do those poor kids have to sit on a couch listening to their dad tell inappropriate stories about his youth.?

Ebay is changing Ebay… no more negative comments

April 11, 2008 · 1 Comment

Okay, this is what it says on ebay:

Sellers may only leave positive feedback for buyers (at the seller’s option).

I know this is a huge change, but we’re also putting into place protections that sellers have wanted for years. In addition to holding buyers accountable via non-public seller reporting tools, such as Unpaid Item reports, we are planning a number of other Seller Protections against inaccurate feedback:

  • We will remove, not just de-score, negative and neutral feedback when a buyer doesn’t respond to the Unpaid Item process
  • We will remove all negative and neutral feedback and comments when a buyer (or seller) is suspended. We will also do this retroactively – which means any negatives and neutrals you’ve received from members we’ve ever suspended will be removed.
  • For sellers with an established track record, we’ll prevent negative and neutral feedback within 3 days of listing end to promote communication.
  • We’re going to reduce the number of days a member can leave feedback from 90 to 60 days.
  • We’ll increase block bidder list capacity from 1,000 to 5,000 user IDs.
  • We’ll increase our monitoring, and take action based on seller reports of buyers behaving very badly.
  • Feedback percentage will be based on the last 12 months, although the total count remains lifetime. This means that any negative or neutral feedback left for you more than 12 months ago will no longer affect your percent positive.

For more details, please see our information page.

I don’t think this is a good idea ebay…

I started using ebay in 1998 when they first started, and then I stopped using it for awhile and had to get another account, since I forgot my password. Man I wish I still had my original login… anyway that’s besides the point.

I sort of agree with Ebay that some people have abused the negative comment feature, but I think that’s what makes ebay work. I have actually never had to leave a negative comment, nor have I recieved one, but I have threatened people with that and then they contacted me and made things right.

If ebay does drop the negative feeback in May as planned, I think there will be a few people that will stop using people.. and sure the company will survive but there will be a hiccup and a few people will leave negative feedback about ebay on the web.

We’ll see…

Obama in Grand Forks, ND and Hillary too

April 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Presidential hopeful, Barack Obama visted Grand Forks last week. Hillary Clinton came to Grand Forks as well. I did not attend the event, I wanted to but I had a much more important event to attend, my daughter’s Knight for a Princess (Daddy Daughter dance). That was a lot of fun and something she will remember for a long time. I am sure she would remember seeing Obama and Clinton as well, but I think going to a dance with Dad (who does not “Shake his booty” all that well will be more memorable).

I hope that Barack Obama is our next President, he seems like a great leader and will be good for our country. I know politics is a touchy subject and people get all huffy and puffy about it (you should, it means a lot)…but sometimes there are things in life that are more important.

Liking the new Wordpres

April 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I like the new WordPress upgrades. It seems easier to use. I am sure that it has changed a lot since the beginning of WordPress launching it’s site, but I have been only using it for the past six months or so. I actually switched over from Google’s blogger. I was a blogger.com user since 2003 actually, but never got into it until the last year or two. The new features that I like about the WordPress upgrade are that the stats are more prominent. I didn’t even know that there were stats until recently, I never bothered to look for them either.

Wasting time with technology

April 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I am a tech person, so I know how much time a person can waste with technology, but I can’t believe how much time a person can waste if you let yourself. I am currently writing a post from an Apple Widget to see if it works. I think this would be a good way for me to add to my blog on a more regular basis. I know it sounds lame but I never find myself logging into the website to make posts that often, maybe once a week at most. With this I might do more since I am already logged in to my account. The only problem is that as far as I can tell I can’t add tags, but I can do that later. Also adding photos and stuff is probably out of the question. I did find that since I have been using Twitter apps to post to twiter (called tweets) I have been using twitter a lot more and have started to figure it out, especially since that is the largest growing site that I have and it is connected to my blog. Well time to go to bed, I have to get up early to go give a presentaiton on Augmented Reality. I spend most of the day working on that and I was supposed to be home sick resting.. thank God I was able to do that…

Very funny Google

April 1, 2008 · 1 Comment

Google played a very funny trick on it’s users of Gmail. I am exposing this to the people who might not figure it out, like I did (after trying to use this new feature) then realizing what an idiot I was.  Like all of the new features from Google, at first I don’t get it, and then it becomes the most important feature of gmail. Well, this would be the best feature ever, too bad it doesn’t exist, at least in this dimension, maybe in a parallel universe it does.I really like the e-flux capacitor that explains how this feature works.April fool technology
