Suffering from 24 (the tv show) withdrawl

January 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’ve been a little down lately, and I’ve figured out why. I haven’t been getting my weekly adrenaline dose of the Fox network hit 24. This year would the shows 7th season. I finally found some trailers for the show online. I guess they showed some trailers in the UK and then those pesky writers decided to strike. This season there is no more CTU and it takes place three years from season 6.  It starts off with Jack Bauer on trial for torturing some terrorist who was going to blow up a bus full of kids or something. Then I guess Chloe and other favorites are back, including Buchannon even though he should have died from radiation poisoning a few years ago. The big thriller is that Tony Alemda is back and is bad guy, I guess. WTF? I always thought Tony and Jack were like brothers. Anyway, I can’t wait until the writers quit striking and get back to work. Then they can start working on 24 the movie. But that will be something to see, imagine a 24 hour movie… (Of course I know it’s only going to be 2 hours… but to be true to the format, it should be 24 hours long..). And of course, who could forget the most important thing of all, Jack Bauer aka Keiffer Sutherland is out of jail. He served his 48 days for his drunken mishap and is now back living his life anyway he wants..

Life on Mars? Nah!

January 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Is there really evidence that there is life on Mars? Or is it just a cruel trick that our minds play? Our minds create images or try to make sense of what we see. In the image that is getting a lot of press, it looks like a guy walking or sitting maybe. To me, it’s nothing. I don’t think a bunch of aliens made a statue. I think there would be tons of other evidence of life on Mars if that were the case. Or maybe they all live under ground and this is one of the very few statues or escapees that have made it to the surface. Either way, I don’t think it’s evidence of life on Mars. I am sure there are aliens out there somewhere but that photo is not proof to me that there is life on Mars.

Don’t charge me for being a heavy user

January 17, 2008 · 1 Comment

Time Warner is expirementing with charging it’s customers more for those who surf a lot. According to an article in wired.com click here for more information.  I first saw this on Lifehacker.com and it scared me.  I quickly began imaging scenarios and then I just got upset. What if you host your own web page, you would be charged for other people using your bandwidth (or maybe not). But what about movies, Netflix and Itunes justed uped the ante with Netflix offering unlimited online content for customers and itunes just started offering rentals. So I think Time Warner better realize that they shouldn’t charge customers more, just to beef up their bottom line.  This is like charging people who use the highway more. Well, in a way they do get charged more, it’s called gasoline or fuel.  I was reading some of the comments to this posting on lifehacker and people in other countries are already subject to this, there is no unlimited high speed.

A message from my Wii

January 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It’s not a big deal, but I am posting this message to my blog from my Wii. It is a litle more difficult, since I am using a crappy usb keyboard. It’s one of those rubber ones. It’s spill proof but really hard to get used to, but a lot better than hunting and pecking with Wiimote.

Wall-e, the new Short Circuit?

January 9, 2008 · 6 Comments

I just watched a preview for the upcoming new Disney movie Wall-E. Wall-E looks like Short Circuit, but the movie is not a rip off of the old classic but instead a new sci-fi movie that kids will love, at least that’s what it looks like to me. The preview doesn’t give away much, but from the looks of it, Wall-E has been alone for 700 years and now he finds some friends. I assume the friends are other robots or something, who knows. All I know is that I will probably going to see this movie. My four-year-old daughter will love this movie. I think I will show her the trailer, but she won’t understand that it doesn’t come out in the theatres for another six months. I guess to build hype about the movie they want people to be anticipating it. I guess that worked for Seinfeld’s Bee Movie.  After doing a little more research, thanks to wikipedia, I discovered the premise of the movie. It’s about Earth becoming abandoned and left with poor little Wall-E to clean up. The clean up program failed and Wall-E was left all alone. Poor little thing, but don’t dispair, he falls in love. This movie was written before Toy Story and was one that kept getting put on the back burner. I guess the best come last. It sounds like a cute story. They say it’s not about science fiction so much as the story about the relationship of this little robot and a larger one.

Wii, Wii, Wii all the way home

January 5, 2008 · 1 Comment

Okay, that’s a lame title I will admit but I don’t care. I was very fortunate to get a Wii Nintendo Entertainment System (I guess that’s Wii NES) or just simply a Wii gaming console. It comes with the Wii Sports which have played many times before on my co-worker’s Wii. I should actually be playing it right now but I don’t feel like it. I will play it tomorrow for sure though. I rented Cooking Mama Cook Off which is fun and I also rented Mario Super Galaxy. I bought some Wii points instantly downloaded the Internet Channel. I love surfing the web with my Wii, and just remembered that I could be posting to my blog from my Wii, but I forgot to bring home a USB keyboard. I have a squishy rubber one in my drawer at work, that I bought a year ago, but didn’t like the squishy keyboard. It’s water proof I guess but I don’t like typing on it, but I suppose it would be good for the Wii, since the keyboard rolls up. Also I am sure it is a lot easier to use that keyboard than hunting and pecking for letters using the on-screen Wii keyboard. The amazing thing is that I also bought Super Mario Bros for the Wii online and enjoyed playing that and so did my daughter. It’s so nostalgic and I loved every minute of it. I think I need to see how far I can get on Super Mario Bros again. I also found a NES emulator for the Mac and was playing that a second ago. But with that it’s just not the same without the controller, so I looked on ebay and found a USB NES controller that I will have to get. You can find virtually any old NES rom which is the Read Only Memory file for the old Nintendo games. Just imagine those games are now creeping up on 20 years old. Holy crap, I’m old. I didn’t own an Atari, so the Nintendo was my first gaming console, I then got the the Super Nintendo and then the N64 which I was also enjoying and getting back into until I got the Wii. Well I could write more about the Wii but I should spend more time playing it, either that or watch tv and learn about how nuts Brittney Spears can be.
