Discover the awesome power of Skype

I am sure a lot of you have heard of Skype before. If not, it’s a company that provides a wonderful communication service. It was bought out by ebay a few years ago. It provides Internet calls or Voice over IP (VoIP) and much more. It’s almost similar to Yahoo messenger or MSN messenger or other chat services.

I have been using MSN because it works best with my MacBook Pro when I use it in PC emulation mode, such as the software provided by Parallels to run Windows XP. The Mac version of MSN is not that good, at least not in my opinion because Microsoft doesn’t really care about it, since it’s a Mac product, so there are fewer features.

Skype on the other works with all sorts of operating systems, whether you’re a real geek and run some version of Linux such as Ubuntu or you are a Mac or PC user.

I have not explored all of the possibilities of Skype, but I will and I will report back all of my findings.

One interesting thing, which I learned from listening to Leo Laporte (The Tech Guy) is that with an older Mac or iMac as I have, you can connect any camcorder that allows a firewire connection and use that as your webcam. I did that and it seems to work great.
