Jesus’ coffin

February 28, 2007 · Leave a Comment

The past few days the media has reported the story about Jesus’ coffin, which was actually discovered in the 1980s but not made public until film director James Cameron planned to do a special on the Discovery Channel.

If this were true it would contradict the Christian (mainly) Catholic belieft that Jesus’ body went to heaven. (This is referred to as the Transfiguration). This is still up for debate even amongst religous people, but it does raise questions.

Of course this can never be proved and most religous people don’t think too much about this, but I think it’s worth thinking about.

Besides just Jesus, Mary Magdeline, and Jesus’ son Judas were found as well. Well, it’s starting to sound like the Da Vinci Code is real. Anyway, like I was saying about proving this, we don’t have Jesus’ DNA and we will never know if this is “THE” Jesus of Nazaria… (sp?) or some other Jesus. OR maybe it is Jesus’ body and when they say in the bible that he went to heaven, they mean he’s dead and his spirit went to heaven.

Anyway, I am a quasi religous person. Actually, I am a skeptic, I believe in religon but I have questions like anyone should.
Even if you are an aethisit, you believe in something, you believe that religous people are wrong, so anyway you look at it, it’s kind of funny.

But of course, it’s not really funny people kill people over religon, and of course there is another contradiction.

Another snag in this story is that I have heard that Jesus did have a coffin/tomb, but it was probably used by someone else. So maybe this is “Jesus’” coffin, but it’s Joe Bob buried inside..

Or maybe we have been fooled for 2007 plus years. Who knows… I guess we will never know for sure will we.. unless you die, but then if you find out how are you going to tell the rest of us the truth…?

German engineering…sucks

February 24, 2007 · Leave a Comment

My wife’s Volkswagen Beetle has a flat tire, and I attempted to change it. However, I was unsucessful since the lug bolts on the damn thing has an anti-theft bolt. The other four bolts were regular and I was able to get them off but one bolt was completely different and I discovered I didn’t have the special anti-theft adapter to remove the bolt. The previous owner stole the anti-theft bolt along with the head rests.

This is not the only problem with owning a piece of German engineering, we had an auto-start installed this fall and to this day it is still functioning properly. First, the day after it was installed fuses for the dash lights started to blow, so we had to take it in to get that repaired. The auto start guys just unhooked the lights but not it makes a buzzing noise when you drive. We have to take it in to get that fixed.

Also, its not like other cars, we had to have a key installed inside the car so the autostart would work. So technically someone could steal the car if they could get it unlocked and find the key.

So yes German engineering is not that great…

Technology

February 23, 2007 · Leave a Comment

In a few days I have to do a presentation to a large group of kids on technology.
I have done presentations to classrooms on many occasions, but this will be the first time in a auditorium setting. I was planning on doing the same thing that I always do, but I think I need to change a few things to make this a better presentation, the problem is I don’t know what to do to make it a better presentation…

The other day (yesterday) I did a presentation with a co-worker and to spice things up a little, we let the students use a Nintendo Wii. I think the Wii’s are awesome, the problem is this is my co-worker’s Wii and I don’t have one, and really can’t just borrow it. I also can’t get my work to buy a Wii, I don’t think it’s justified, imagine that. It is educational, but I don’t think I’ll be getting one for work anytime soon.

So in essence, or in other words, I guess this blog posting could be called – I want a Wii, but I titled it Technology instead, since when I started writing, I really didn’t have a reason for writing in my blog other than just to write in my blog while waiting for my computer to finish a project.

Smurfs

February 20, 2007 · Leave a Comment

The Smurfs may have a movie in the “near” future (2008).

http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/eo/20050719/112182198000.html

Is where you can read more about this, I guess the Smurfs are a creation of Peyo or Pierre Culliford, introduced them in the comic pages. The new movie’s planned release date supposedly is tied to Smurfdom’s upcoming 50th birthday.

As a kid I loved watching the Smurfs and was actually beaten up by older kids once while defending my stuffed smurf doll. (What a nerd huh?) – But then again, what a bunch of jerks to take a toy away from a little kid. I’m not saying how old I was, actually I don’t remember but it was probably past the age of when it was cute to be carrying a smurf toy around.

I just had to write this, I am waiting for something to finish on my computer so I can go do other things, but thought I would work on my blog.

Okay it’s fixed

I knew a simple way to fix my blog and I was right. Doesn’t it look pretty….?

I now have to add the code back in so people can subscribe to it, and I wonder if the subscriptions I have currently will still work?

I think it was time to update that anyway, I am sure there is a better way to add the subscription part to my blog an easier way anyway, I would love to have more people read my blog but what would be the point.

I know what I could do but it would be stupid and that is print out my blog and mail to my parents since I am sure they would like to read it, since this is sort of a continuation of my old newspaper column, but then again they have a computer and maybe this way if I told them about my blog they would have an excuse to turn it on.. but the dial up for them sucks so bad I dont’ think I want to put them through that torture or myself either since if it doesn’t work they will do one of two things. 1. They will call me and complain about it. 2. They will not try anymore and forget about it. They have been doing the later, since we asked them to e-mail us more often. I could get them high speed Internet but that would be like getting high speed internet for my pets.. it would be stupid.

Blogging woe’s

February 20, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Okay, I am pretty good at html and creating websites, but I don’t know everything. I was trying to make my blog look better, since I had some crap on it that made it look bad, basically my Celebrity look alike and Meez Character, and I took that off.

I know I have about two or three people who read my blog, not including my wife, but I am sure if I said something about her the other people who might read my blog might say something to her..

Anyway, I am basically posting this message to see if it fixes my blog, I somehow doubt it and I will have to go back to the code and see if I can fix it.

Daylight Savings Glitch

February 20, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Another Y2k is coming.. and it will be just like Y2K, meaning no big deal!

Remember back in 2000, we bought water, and food supplies thinking that the world was coming to an end because of a computer programing oversight?

Well that has occurred again, and it won’t be the last time, but it also won’t be a big deal either, so a few people’s calendars in their PDA’s will be screwed up, big deal. If you use a Mac, like I do, you may have noticed they already sent out an update. I own a Mac it wouldn’t have affected me anyway, since my time zone is set to Reykjavik, Iceland, because I use a Bootcamp, and when I switch to PC mode the time zones get goofed up, so I have to do that.. it’s complicated and if you don’t understand what I am talking about it doesn’t matter..

At work I got an e-mail and basically it said pay attention to your calendar the times may be off, and then the instructions were to manually adjust your time or your appointments for the affected dates. I also had people e-mail me wondering about this, I just told them to do to the same, make sure your clock on your computer is correct after Daylight savings time and you will be ok.. ( I hope)..

Anyway, this time zone glitch was picked up by the media and I am sure they tried to play it up as much as they could or at least make fun of this oversight, but who would have thought they would switch the dates for Daylight Savings time.. I wish they would get rid of it, but it is nice to have longer nights in the summer… but why can’t they just leave it that way….

It’s almost like creating an illusion, as if to say, see its not really that late it’s only 8 p.m. and the Sun is still up..

Who are we fooling?

Well that’s about all I have to say for now..

Windows Vista – more like crap in box

February 6, 2007 · 1 Comment

I was all excited to use the new Windows Vista, I have tried the beta version and when I actually got to use the real deal last week, it just sucked the life out of me.

I spent all day working with a student’s laptop, trying to get Windows Vista to work properly. I even deleted the harddrive and installed XP, but the computer didn’t work then either, so it was back to Windows Vista, poor student.

It’s working now, but there are a ton of things that are “Not fully supported by Windows Vista” including – virtually everything on the computer. No, actually itunes is one thing, but it semi works, and Google Sketchup is not supported (heck it won’t even install, unless you trick the computer that it is using Windows XP).

It will be a long time before I buy Windows Vista, and to think I almost ordered the upgrade for my wife’s laptop at home, good thing I didn’t or we would be divorced.
