Blogging for no one

February 27, 2006 · Leave a Comment

One thing about blogging is that you have to do it for yourself, or write something that people will really want to read, since what I have written does not get any replies at all. It’s as if this is truly a personal diary that is electronic and anyone can stumble over by chance. Or it’s more like writing a personal journal that may one day be discovered by accident, and more likely never be discovered. Regardless, I am doing this for a number of reasons. 1. Becuase it’s fun. (Okay, that’s a lame reason, but it is a fun thing to do). 2. I’m a nerd. 3. It’s related to my graduate studies and I am really starting to get interested in blogging. I am starting to research this and I have just started, but I think blogs can be very useful tools for a lot of reasons, especially education.

Clerks, a great movie

February 27, 2006 · Leave a Comment

After listening to my new favorite radio show (XM’s Opie and Anthony) with special guest Kevin Smith, the director of Clerks, a great American classic from 1994, I disovered that in August of this year, Clerks II is coming out.

I can’t wait to see it, nothing will be as good as the original, but I am anxious to see the newest Kevin Smith film. At first when I heard about it, I thought it was something that I had already missed and it was something that went straight to DVD. I went online and discovered that I would have a chance to see it on the big screen. Now the question is whether this movie will come to my city. Which is doubtful, I might have to travel to a larger city to see it.

That’s about all I have to say for now.

Lots of stuff

February 2, 2006 · Leave a Comment

First off… ipods still rule. I am using my ipod a lot and I have noticed a lot more tv shows appearing on the itunes music store, they should just rename it itunes store or maybe they did.

I must admit I am addicted to the tv show 24 and for the first time I am watching it as it is “live” or as the season progresses, but since I have only seen up to the middle or beginning of season 3 or Day 3, I feel left out since we are now on Day 5 and episode 5 or something. But regardless, I think anyone can watch it currently and then either go online and read the season synopsis or spoils whatever they are called or just get the dvds. I found ebay as great source to buy them.

I had a bunch of other issues to address, but that will have to happen later, since it is late and I need to get home. I am currently writing this at my office. I came here after a night class to drop off my stuff.

I remembered what that one thing was or at least one other thought or two.

First the original thing that actually brought me back to blogging recently – I was on a short hiatus. Was writing about how I was a Howard Stern fan and still kind of like what he did, but now I think he’s fallen behind the times and is a has been. He was talking about going to satellite radio for years and actually did a commercial for XM radio, what I subscribe to yet he is on Sirus. I have not heard his show, but I have been exposed to the O & A virus as it is referred to or simply the lame Opie and Anthony show. I actually don’t like either of those guys. Their bits are funny, but truthfully I think the local Grand Forks show minus swearing due to free air waves and FCC is actually much better. All O & A have is swearing and filthy language, which is sometimes funny, also knocking Howard Stern. I doubt if those dweebs would ever read this, so I don’t care.

The best part of their show is that they do talk about current events – sort of – sadly I learned about the March of the Penguins from their show. A twisted retelling of it, I might add. Also I do like Jimmy Norton, he is funny. I also like the comedians that are on their show.

Enough of my rambling about that. – One more thing, the best show I listened to was when they reviewed the Aristocrats. Which is another blog, but I might be kicked off of Blogger for retelling the crap that happens in that joke. I think I might try to tell a clean version of it someday in a blog, but I don’t have time for that today.

My other thought for the day – I must move to someplace where there isn’t snow. I have had to use my snowblower which only has one set of chains on the tires and I must push it through the snow, even though it is self propelled. If I had a blower on my lawn tractor I might not complain about this. Actually if I didn’t have a snow blower I wouldn’t even be able to leave my house. It is a necessity where I live.

Okay, that’s enough for today.
